EDUCATION FOR LIFE

GFWC/CT Epsilon Sigma Omicron (ESO)

Jo Ann Bruno, Chairman

It is no mystery and certainly is not a novel idea – reading is for pleasure as well as a tool for furthering knowledge and self-improvement.

ESO (Epsilon Sigma Omicron) was established to encourage federated members to attain further goals of reading. Not only for pleasure, but for self-improvement through personal study and individual reading, book club participation, and through encouraging members to achieve high ESO levels. Course study also counts toward ESO levels.

Connecticut has an ESO charter and the reporting form (indicated below) should be used for reporting to State Chair. To become a pledge, all you need do is to read four (4) books in four (4) different categories…this equals 16 books for your pledge. You are then on your way.

Categories are: AMERICAN CLASSICS, AMERICAN HISTORY, ARTS, BIOGRAPHY AND MEMOIRS, CONSERVATION, DRAMA, EDUCATION, FICTION both GENERAL AND MYSTERY, HOME LIFE, INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS, NON-FICTION, PARENTING, POETRY, POLITICS, PUBLIC AFFAIRS, READING TO CHILDREN, RELIGION, TRAVEL, VOLUNTEERISM, WOMEN’S HISTORY, WOMEN’S ISSUES, WORLD HISTORY AND WORLD LITERATURE.

A GFWC suggested reading list is available when you register to join the other ESO members. Many of the books you are reading now are included in this list.

At reporting time please advise your ESO chairman of the name of the club, the number of book discussion groups, the number of members participating and a copy of the reading list.

Thank you for picking up this ESO information…below is the short report form that you may use.
