Letter from the President
Dear GFWC/CT Friends:
Thank you for the honor and the opportunity to serve as GFWC/CT State President for the 2010-2012 administration.

I am grateful to those members who so graciously accepted a position on the state board and look forward to working with all of you in whatever initiatives members of GFWC/CT choose to embark upon.

GFWC and GFWC/CT will be working diligently to establish a strong identity in our communities. We encourage clubs to use our emblem, take advantage of our Public Relations tools, and call upon the GFWC/CT officers for help when needed. Creating and strengthening our identity as a widespread, well-established organization will help us meet our membership challenges. Please take advantage of the large organization behind each club: use our identity with GFWC as a membership recruitment tool. Last year, GFWC members reported over 4, 000,000 volunteer hours; who could fail to be impressed with that type of commitment to service?

We will have many reasons to ?Give them something to talk about!? as we actively support our state project, The Connecticut Food Bank and its partner FoodShare; GFWC?s partner in the Arts, the American Mural Project, and our Federation?s signature project, Domestic Violence Awareness.

My hope is that clubs will be excited with the ideas presented by our Community Service Program Chairmen in Arts, Education, Conservation, Home Life, International Outreach, Public Issues and Advocates for Children. While it may not be possible to take advantage of all the ideas proposed, it will certainly be possible for your club to find an interest and perhaps a new project or program to bring to your members and your community.

With so many options and resources available to our clubs, I have no doubt that GFWC/CT will once again serve the communities as outstanding examples of volunteer service.

Warm wishes,
JoAnn Calnen
2010-2012 GFWC/CT President
