For over 100 years, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Connecticut (GFWC/CT) has been part of an international organization with a mission to provide volunteer services, respond to challenges, and to seize a crisis as an opportunity for moving forward. Our mission encompasses being an innovative leader in education, and development of women to benefit their children, their community and their government. As a proud member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC), our clubs create global change on a local level. Our goal is to be of service to others, improve our social, cultural and physical environment and promote appreciation of the arts. We strive to become responsible leaders in our communities.

State Project: Homes for the Brave/ABRI

ABRI LogoHomes for the Brave, under the direction of ABRI (Applied Behavioral Rehabilitation Institute, Inc.) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that provides homeless male veterans with transitional housing, vocational and case management services. Their mission is to enable their residents to return to an independent, productive and meaningful life. The 42 bed facility, located in Bridgeport, is open to homeless male veterans throughout Connecticut. Since its opening in 2002, it has served over 750 men. …more
